    02What we found

What we found on 30 dental websites

You look after your patients, your website is online, and still the phone is quieter than it should be. Often the cause is not the dentistry. It is what Google can read on the page. These are the three problems we met most often on the dental websites we checked.

Page titles that do not say where or what

22 of 30 dental websites we checked have page titles that do not say the area or the treatment, so a nearby patient cannot tell what the page is.

Why it costs enquiries. The page title is the headline of your result in Google. When it only gives the clinic name, someone nearby who is searching for a treatment has no reason to tap it.

The fix. Put the area and the main treatment in the title of each key page, such as the home page and each treatment page.

No short summary under the link

21 of 30 dental websites we checked have pages with no short summary for Google to show under the link (no meta description).

Why it costs enquiries. With no summary, Google picks a piece of text from the page itself. That can be a menu or an address instead of a reason to call.

The fix. Write one plain sentence per key page: what the page covers, and where you are.

A form with no privacy notice

16 of 30 dental websites we checked have an enquiry or booking form with no privacy notice we could find on the pages we read. They may have one on a page we did not read.

Why it costs enquiries. A form that asks for a name and a phone number should say how they will be used. With no notice, a careful patient may not send it.

The fix. Add a short privacy notice and link it beside the form. If you already have one, link it from the form page.

Each count is the number of our first-look reports on dental websites that list the problem. It is not a full audit of any one site.
